Nancy is excited about the up-coming school talent show, until she learns that instead of being partners with her best friend, she has to be partners with Lionel, a boy that she doesn't really know. Lionel is shy, and doesn't seem to like any of the things that Nancy does. Her parents suggest that Nancy spend time with Lionel so that she can discover what they do have in common. During a visit to Lionel's house, Nancy learns that he loves lions, and from that their talent show act is created.
As in all the Fancy Nancy books, this makes for a great early reader for first and second grade girls. The story is enjoyable Nancy's "fancy" language help children learn new vocabulary words.
Fancy Nancy is an adorable, smart, one-of-a kind character. If you're an elementary teacher working on a 'getting along' theme, or a parent who wants to encourage siblings to work things out... this book can lead to helpful discussions on how to compromise. - Amazon.com reader, New York
