Print/Braille Board Book, $6.99
Ages Baby-Preschool
This book is in uncontracted braille only.
Soup is yummy, but soap - not so much. The same goes for blue crayons, mud pies, and sand, and other things too yucky to mention.
Amiably illustrated in a bright, graphic style, Leslie Patricelli's spirited board book, YUMMY YUCKY stars an obliging, bald, and very expressive toddler who acts out each pair of opposites with comically dramatic effect. Both kids and adults will have fun discovering what each pair of opposites has in common - like sandwiches versus sand, soup and soap, even ice cream versus too much ice cream!
Author Leslie Patricelli - who also created our hugely popular book Quiet Loud - says this book was inspired when her one-year-old son was putting everything in his mouth. "After hearing myself say 'yucky!' or 'yummy!' for months on end, this book seemed to write itself," she says.
We introduced this book to my toddler at an age when he was eating sand in the sandbox and grabbing pretty much anything else he could get into his mouth. This book was a fun way to explain why we don't eat sand, kitty litter, or worms. He loves this book, and we do too! We all always laugh out loud when reading it.
