[NBP web-reskin] Question: braille image that changes on top
ofthepage

Hi Richard:
There are a couple of accessibility issues with the menu:
1. The background color does not provide enough contrast to make the
selection readable for some visually impaired users. Maybe we could put a
simple box around the option when it has focus and/or change it to bold.
2. The mouse over creates a problem for Zoomtext users because the
screen changes when the mouse moves so it's difficult to know where you are.
Here is the comment from a user:
It works OK for me. I'd prefer the down arrow work, but at least I can move
down the list with the tab key. The color scheme works, though I'm not a fan
of this type of drop-down menus. I prefer to have to click on a menu choice
rather than things mysteriously happen because of where my mouse is landing,
though I may not be intentionally moving my mouse.
3. Our preference is the rounded corners on the drop down, but not sure
how accessible this would make the drop down.
Would it be possible to have Marguerite Bergel and/or Ann Chadwick-Dias help
us determine what our options are?
Thanks, Richard, the homepage is really taking shape.
Edie

Hi Edie,
I have a couple of questions for you about the drop down menu. I couldn't
find a note on what should happen as far as highlighting goes when you move
your mouse over one of the links on the dropdown. I've coded it to change
the background to match the menu colour above it (not the best description
check it out at http://28.camp.nbp.temphost.net:9028/ic/nbp/homepage.html ).
Some of the colours need correcting but you should get the general idea. If
you had something else in mind highlighting wise please let me know.
The second question was about the corners on the drop down. I noticed in
the design images that the bottom left and right corners are rounded - mine
are squared. I'm not sure if the rounded ones are a requirement or if that
was just a guide. Rounded corners can only be done using images. If they
are a requirement then I'll get working on implementing that, I just didn't
want to have to do all the extra work if it wasn't needed.
Oh, please excuse the positioning of the drop down if you are using IE6, I
still have to figure out why it's centering the left edge, it looks fine in
IE8.
Thanks,
Richard

Hi Steve:
Technology won't be used for some time yet so you can just put it on the
back burner. Your guesses are all correct.
Thanks,
Edie

Hi Edie,
I need some guidance. I received (7) images.
The image will be displayed based upon the directory of where the page comes
from. Below are my guesses. I have nothing for technology. Is the press
image the default?
bookstore - publications directory
programs - programs directory
education - educations directory
business - business directory
giving - support directory
technology - ???
press - home page and default
Thanks,
Steve DiDomenico
