[UEB Maths] face to face meeting

Thanks Stephen for getting back to me. I think we can now confirm that
if this meeting goes ahead it will be the week beginning 5 March. That
would be good for Bruce and Josie who are in NZ then, fits well for Joe
as he can continue on from the CTEVH conference, is not ideal for Helen
but may still be possible, and is not out of the question for Stephen.

I think the next step is to identify our objectives, and how much
preparatory work each one needs if the face to face meeting is to be
really effective. That will also help us identify how many days we will
need and also whether we could cope without Stephen physically present.
I will start making a list and try to send it out today.

The dates mentioned for a UEB maths face-to-face meeting are OK for me
(i.e. as good as any other), though I don't think I can commit myself
yet as to whether or not I would come (e.g. expense, aircraft pollution,
which I am a bit uneasy about to be honest). I wonder whether I could
just make myself available by email or phone if needed?

I should be able to attend either of those weeks.  (I expect to be in
California March 2-4 for the CTEVH Conference, which could be a good
thing if I can arrange to travel directly from there.)

I would like to float the idea of a face to face meeting for the Maths
focus group. One possibility is for the RNZFB to host such a meeting in
March 2007, when Bruce (and Josie Howse) are hoping to visit NZ for a
meeting about our respective braille proficiency certificates. Perhaps
the first step is to check people's availability during March. Initially
I wondered about the week beginning 5 March or the week beginning 12
March.
 
I will email Darleen to let her know that this is in the air and to
check on procedures. In the meantime it would be good to hear if either
of those weeks are possible for each of us, assuming for the moment that
we could source funding from a combination of our organistions and ICEB.
