I think Joe actually did mean dots 346 rather than 146 as the available =
sign, e.g. he referred to its meaning as the contraction ING, which =
would not occur after a space. Dots 146 would not be available in that =
sense. I assumed this in my message, and so, too, was talking about the =
dots 346 sign as a possible grade 1 passage indicator.
As regards inverse trigonometric (or other functions), my suggestion =
immediately handles notation such as sin superscript -1 x, etc., as the =
superscript indicator terminates the function mode (according to the =
suggested rule). In the case of alternative, and I would say these days =
less common notation, like arcsin x, according to the rule you would =
simply braille it as any other function, i.e. \arcsin'x (using my =
previous notation), unless we decided to assign a special abbreviated =
form for it as was suggested we could do for sin and cos, etc.
