National Braille Press is again partnering with Verizon and their DIAL (Disability Issues Awareness Leaders) group in Verizon's annual Season's Readings literacy campaign. The Season's Readings campaign seeks to provide books and promote literacy for children during the holiday season with donations from Verizon employees.

This year, Verizon/DIAL will support braille literacy through the Adopt-A-Library program. This program will provide braille books and educational materials to blind children at two schools for the blind: the Maryland School for the Blind and Perkins School for the Blind in Boston for blind and visually impaired students. Books that will be provided include:

Children's storybooks in the print/braille format that allow parents and children to read together.
Titles include:

  • Merry Christmas, Curious George
  • The Eight Nights of Chanukah
  • Arthur Writes a Story, and Dad
  • Jackie and Me (a book about Jackie Robinson)

Board books with braille stickers which introduce blind children to braille as their reading medium.
Titles include:

  • Animal Kisses
  • The Belly Button Book
  • Quiet Loud

Braille books for pre-teens and young adults.
Titles include:

  • the Harry Potter series
  • Braille.com and Beyond (a book on how to navigate the internet)
  • The Ipod Experience (on how to use the Ipod shuffle)
  • Google It! (on how to navigate this popular search engine)

Educational materials in large print and braille.
