The Francis B. Ierardi Founder's Society

Recognizing Donors of $1,000 and above to National Braille Press

Ierardi Society members are recognized as being among National Braille Press's most generous benefactors ensuring the continued growth of our programs for Children & Youth, Outreach & Advocacy, Education, and Lifelong Learning & Life Skills.

Through the Ierardi Society we also honor our founder, Francis B. Ierardi, for fulfilling the dream of providing blind people with the tool for good citizenship -- current news. He established and founded National Braille Press in 1927 in order to publish the first braille weekly newspaper in America, The Weekly News. Blinded as a youth, he became a teacher for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind and a noted rehabilitation leader.
