2008 ADJUDICATION COMMITTEE


EDWARD BELL, Ph.D.
Dr. Bell is the director of the Professional Development and Research Institute on Blindness at Louisiana Tech University. He has presented numerous times on visual impairments and authored multiple publications. He earned the Miller Memorial Award, E. Russell Baxter Award, and Rehabilitation Services Administration Scholarship while pursing his doctoral degree at the University of Arkansas.

FRANCES MARY D'ANDREA
Ms. D'Andrea is currently a doctoral student at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to this, she held several positions at the American Foundation for the Blind. She has presented at numerous conferences on literacy for low vision and blind children and adults. She is also the recipient of many awards, including the 2006 Peer Review of the Year from the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness.

KAREN GOURGEY and STEVEN LANDAU
Ms. Gourgey and Mr. Landau are the 2007 winners of the Louis Braille Touch of Genius Prize.

THOMAS MAGNANTI, Ph.D.
Tom Magnanti is the former Dean, and current professor, of the School of Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also a founding director of the Leaders for Manufacturing Program and the System Design and Management program at MIT.

PAUL PARRAVANO
Mr. Parravano is a director of the Government and Community Affairs office at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also serves as vice-chairperson of the Trustees of National Braille Press.
